1.2.1.2. Word order changes between declaratives and polar interrogatives

There are no crucial word order [Syntax – 2.3.] changes between declaratives and polar interrogatives. However, it is frequently the case that the subject pronoun occurs at the end of the question, especially when the subject of the interrogative is the addressee/2nd person.

ıx2 sports do ıx2

‘Do you do sports?’

When the question is negated and the subject pronoun occurs question-finally, the pronoun follows the negative marker not [Syntax – 1.5.].

ıx2 breakfast make^not ıx2

‘Have you not had breakfast?’
