1.3.2. Imperative markers

Even though there is no manual or non-manual marker that exclusively marks a sentence as an imperative, head tilt (forward or sideward) and signing of the verb with a tense movement are the most prominent markers in imperatives. We describe the head tilt in [Syntax โ€“ 1.3.2.2] below.

          The following example shows that the verb sit is articulated with a higher degree of intensity and shorter duration in a command compared to its articulation in a statement.
