2.1.4.1. Copular constructions

Adjectival phrases and noun phrases can serve as predicates as well as verb phrases in DGS. In the examples below, the property small belongs to the dog and the property of being a teacher is predicated of the referent ix3โ€˜heโ€™. A non-verbal predicate and its subject are simply juxtaposed.

 

a.       dog ix3 small 

         โ€˜The dog is small.โ€™
