Like adjectives, adverbials are modifiers. However, while adjectives typically modify nouns, adverbials can modify different elements like sentences, verbs, adjectives, or other adverbials. This section offers a description of different types of adverbials in LSC regarding their scope in the sentence, that is to say the domain within which it has the ability to affect the interpretation. Two types are presented: i) verb-oriented adverbials, which have scope only over the verb (i.e. affect the interpretation on the verb), and ii) sentence adverbials, which have scope over the whole sentence (i.e. affect the interpretation on the whole sentence).
