Modality in LSC is mainly expressed through the use of different lexical markers [LEXICON 3.3.3]. However, sometimes the same manual signs are used to express different meanings either within the same type of modality or also across different types. In these cases, non-manual markers play a crucial role in the disambiguation of the meaning and/or the type of modality we are dealing with. This section describes the non-manual markers that are found in LSC accompanying different lexical modality markers.
