2.1.2.4. Classifier handshape

In LSC a classifier handshape [MORPHOLOGY 5, PRAGMATICS 2.2.2] can show agreement with the direct object of a ditransitive verb, as shown in [SYNTAX 2.1.2.3.1]. This type of agreement can be realized in classifier constructions by selecting some visually salient property of the argument, as in the following example.

          dh:  tree                        man cl(b):‘movea’

         ndh:         cl(i): ‘be.ata’---------------------        

          ‘A man approached the tree.’
