2.2.1.3. Strategies of pronoun copying for subject and object

In LSC, as well as it happens with many other sign languages, the subject may be repeated at the end of the clause by means of a pronoun. In the example below, the clause final pronoun ix3 refers to the subject of the clause woman ix3.

 

woman ix3 car buy ix3.

โ€˜The woman bought a car.โ€™

 

Sometimes the constituent to which the sentence-final pronoun refers to can be omitted, as illustrated in the example below, where the subject that should be placed in initial position is omitted.
