In LSC gender distinctions may, but need not be marked when referring to animate third person singular entities, as well as to any plurality of animate entities in first, second and third person. If gender is expressed, the sign woman or man is attached to the pronoun (signed as a separate morpheme) for the morphosyntactic categories feminine and masculine.
