A Grammar of Catalan Sign Language (LSC)

4.1. Focus

As in any other language, focus in LSC is an obligatory part of a sentence. Taking into account an information structural perspective all sentences contribute to building discourse by introducing new information (focus), and thus by updating the shared information of the participants in the discourse.

The following subsections offer a description of different types of focus and its expression in LSC.
