In an interaction, a turn consists in the period of time in which one or more participants keep the position of sender (rather than addressee). Turn taking expresses the sequence of allocating the turn between two or more dialogue partners and it is marked by specific turn-taking signals. In what follows, the modality-specific cues used as turn taking strategies are presented.
