3.1. Coordination of clauses
Coordination is a syntactic construction in which two or more constituents belonging to the same syntactic category such as noun phrases [SYNTAX 4], verb phrases, or clauses are combined at the same level. It can be expressed with the use of an overt element such as ‘and’, ‘or’, ‘but’ or juxtaposition, where no overt marker is used. In this chapter the focus is only on coordination of clauses. The different types of coordination in LSC are presented, as well as the different types of manual and non-manual markers used to express them. Moreover, the properties of coordination that make it possible to diagnose it are also described.
