1.3.2. Secondary movement
Secondary or hand-internal movements comprise movements that involve handshape and/or orientation changes. The possible handshape changes are categorized as follows:

In LSC, two secondary movements may be contrastive and create minimal pairs like sword and key. In the sign sword there is an orientation change, since the wrist completely rotates. By contrast, in the sign key the wrist does not rotate but it is shaken by small repetitive movements with no change in the orientation of the palm of the hand.
