3.1.2.2.2. Position of manual markers in adversative coordination

In adversative coordination, the main manual marker found is but, which can only occur between the two conjuncts, as in the following example.

                                                              ht-right re, sq                           ht-left, bl-left   ht-right, bl-left

giorgia cake chocolate very good but  [fruit cl (5): fruits+++ burn][ipsi].

            ‘Giorgia baked a very good chocolate cake, but burnt a fruit cake.’
